The Final Report on the Gli Gli Leeward Island Expedition - May 2007
The Gli Gli, her crew of 11 Kalinago Caribs from Dominica and the support vessel ‘Fiddlers Green’ arrived safely in the BVI on May 26th .The expedition had taken 20 days to sail through the Leeward Islands from Antigua to the BVI, with stops at Nevis, St. Kitts, St. Barths, St. Maarten, St. Martin, Anguilla and Sombrero. Kalinago Canoe

The kalinagos make use of gommier trees to build canoes. The gommier tree is used to construct the hull and boardage, which is the large boards for the sides to raise the free-board of the ocean going canoe.
